All About Us

Richard and Hannah live near Harberton in the beautiful rolling hills and countryside of South Devon with their four children and cat, Gizmo. They feel truly blessed to live somewhere so incredible.

Richard was brought up in farming and his first home was on his grandparents farm just outside Torbay, Devon. Although Richard never pursued a career in farming, the values of farming have always stayed with him.

After college, Richard went on to be a successful restaurant manager, licensee, company director, driving instructor and is proud to run a driving school in South Devon. Richard is an incredibly practical person and has studied Plumbing and Electrical Installation at college. Richard is also part way through studying towards a degree in Environmental Management and Technology. There is not much that Richard cannot put his hand to and he has the skill and knowledge to do a lot of practical work for Project Zero @ The Farm.

From the age of 6, Richard joined the Scout Association as a youth member and went all the way through Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts and at the age of 18, he became an adult leader. He undertook training with the Scout Association and over the last 20 years, he has held roles such as Scout Leader and District Explorer Scout Commissioner. Richard is very experienced working with and managing volunteers. He has a keen passion for teaching and developing youth.

Richard is also very highly trained in HR, customer services and he also has a Health & Safety qualification. Richard wants to get back to his roots and incorporate it with teaching.

Hannah is a highly organised and experienced medical secretary. Hannah is also a wonderful Mum and the person who keeps Richard organised and functioning.

Hannah was brought up by spending a lot of time in the countryside and developed a real passion for the outdoors. Her maternal family were market gardeners and spent a lot of time outdoors on a farm, although the farm was no longer there when Hannah grew up, many of these values and interests were passed onto Hannah at a young age.

Upon leaving school Hannah did an apprenticeship in hairdressing and worked as a hairdresser for around five years before moving into retail for a few years and finally settling on medical administration as a career. Although this is a career she enjoys and excels at due to her exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, she has always wanted to get into farming and bring up her children with the same love of the outdoors that she has.

Hannah has undertaken many business qualifications and is well equipped to be able to run Project Zero @ The Farm, she has many ideas on how to make the charity a success and accessible for all.

Over the past few years, Richard and Hannah have developed a strong interest in sustainability and feel strongly that something must be done to help change our planet to better it for the younger generation. After much research and brainstorming, Project Zero @ The Farm was born and they are extremely excited to make this project a success and give back to the local community, school students, bussinesses and beyond.
