Meet Our Vision

We are a crowdfunding project that aims to build a sustainable eco farm that raises awareness to school students, the community and business's on how to live and work sustainably and learn where food comes from . Please read on and learn how we want to help change the world.

Our vision is to create a self sustainable and off grid eco-farm and to utilise technology to create sufficient energy for the the project. We want to run hands on residential trips for students where we can show them how we harness natural resources to power the farm and to inform them of where the food we eat comes from. We also want the community around us to benefit from the example we set and be involved by volunteering and will provide experiences for SEN children including indoor and outdoor sensory areas. We will welcome business's who wish to learn how to make their own business's more efficient.

Where?
We want to locate our project in South Devon. Its an area we know very well and lots of people know for being beautiful. We believe we have the right elements and environment in South Devon.

What do we need?

Quite simply, we need everything! Some will call us ambitious and others will think we've gone mad but we want our project to be successful. We need financial donations or physical donations to reduce the amount of money the project needs.

Countryside Scenery

A donation of as little as £2 will help us towards our goal

Land in South Devon

The project needs a suitable piece of land in South Devon. Ideally, it needs to be 10-15 acres and near a primary route. A water source and some woodland would be good too. To be eligible for lottery funding, the project will need to own the land.

Amount needed:

£150,000 - £175,000

Solar Panels in Mountains

A donation of as little as £2 will help us towards our goal

Solar Panels & Water Supply

Once we have land, we will require solar panels and storage batteries to power the project. We will also need a Bore Hole complete with UV filtration and pump which can suitably handle the requirements of the project.

Amount needed:

£40,000 - £50,000

Signing a Contract

A donation of as little as £2 will help us towards our goal

Land Agent and Solicitors, Legal Fee's

We need a land agent and solicitor to help us with planning permissions, livestock planning and the legal side of the project. We would love to find someone who would be willing to work with us on a charitable basis, but failing that, we'll have to raise the funds.

Ground Work & Security

We will require ground work for pathways, track ways and outbuildings. We will also need fencing for the land, a secure access gate and CCTV.

Transportation

Every farm needs farm equipment and transportation. Project Zero @ The Farm will need an electric farm utility vehicle (UTV) and an electric van to help collect and deliver produce.

Free Range Chicken Farm

A donation of as little as £2 will help us towards our goal

Livestock, outbuildings and storage

We require poultry sheds, outbuildings and a storage barn. We want the project to be sustainable and at the same time as being a hands on learning experience, we also need to generate funds to support the project. We see Free Range Eggs as a great source of income. We also want to add other animals to the project.

Land in South Devon

Project Zero will require around 15 acres of land in South Devon. We feel this is our biggest challenge. It would be a bonus If we can find land near a main route, with a natural water source and with some woodland too.

Solar & Water

The project will be totally sustainable and off grid. Our aim is to harness the power of renewable energy and then demonstrate its capabilities to all those who come to us. We need Solar Panels & PV storage system and a Bore Hole with UV filtration & Pump. In the future we would like to explore hydro and wind energy too.

Installation Power Buggy Rental

A donation of as little as £2 will help us towards our goal

Ground work

& Security

We aim to keep the land as close to natural as possible but we will need to do some pathways and foundations for the wooden structures. We also need to make the site accessible for all. Any emissions produced in this process will be offset with a generous tree planting scheme on the land.

Transportation

Every farm needs machinery and transportation. We aim to do this in a fully sustainable away. We will need an electric van and also an electric UTV. These will be charged by power generated on the farm.

Free Range Poultry Farm

A donation of as little as £2 will help us towards our goal

Livestock & Housing

A major part of the project is to have livestock for awareness and for produce. We aim to have up to 900 Chickens on the site to produce eggs for sale. As well as chickens, we aim to have other farm animals and we happily act as a type of rescue centre.

Land Agent & Legal Fee's

The project will need funding for legal fee's and land agents fee's. We would welcome anyone with experience who would like to volunteer to help us with this.

Hay Bales

Feed & Supplies

Project Zero @ The Farm will need a stock of food and supplies for the livestock on the farm. We will need food for the hens, goats, sheep and the other animals that join the project.

Accomodation

Project Zero @ The Farm will need bunk houses for 30 students plus teacher accommodation. Efficient and carbon free showers, toilets and cooking facilities will also need to be built. The project will also need onsite warden accommodation and office space. All buildings on side will be wooden and FSE compliant to ensure its sustainable timber.

Heating & Sewage

Project Zero @ The Farm will use some composting toilets but we will also need to provide proper facilities. The project will need septic tanks. We will also need Heat source pumps to provide heating in all accommodation.

Poly Tunnels for Fruit & Veg

Project Zero @ The Farm will provide a hands on growing experience for the community and for various groups and schools. The produce will be sold to help support the project and keep it going. Poly Tunnels will be essential for all year round growing.

Agricultural Equipment

Project Zero @ The Farm will need various equipment for land management and for crop production such as a rotavator, mower and other tools.

A Small Shop

As well as selling produce grown on the farm in the local area, the project would benefit from a small shop on the land to sell what has been produced. We will use the shop experience as part of the learning experience for the groups and people the project is targeting.

(That's a lot less than the population of somewhere like Plymouth!!)

Sensory Garden/Field

We would love to create a sensory garden and field for people with SEN and local baby groups to enjoy

The project will require a builder for all the building we cannot do ourselves.

We need YOU!

We need volunteers from all backgrounds and abilities. If you have a keen interest in volunteering and would love to help with the project then we will need you! From helping with the animals to growing vegetables to helping run the shop, we want to create a community.

Beekeeper with Honeycomb

Beekeepers

Bee's are an important subject at the moment and the preservation of Bee colonies is important. We would love to welcome someone from the local community to set up a Bee colony on the projects land. We see this as a key element to what the project aims to do.

An accountant or Book keeper that would be willing to volunteer their time and help Project Zero @ The Farm would most welcome. If you have some experience with a charity then that would be an added bonus.
